Celebrating JUNE!

Wooo-Hooo! June 1st was my first official day of summer vacation! Zach spent the night with us, and he and I went to find some new music for his MP3 player. We had a great day, and then he went home to get ready for his second baseball game of the season. Dennis and I went to the Celebrate School's Out party at Argyle. That was really fun, but we didn't get to stay long because we wanted to go watch Zach's game. Only five kids showed up for the game, so it was pretty short! Zach had some good hits and plays, and we enjoyed watching him. The game was in Donnellson. They have a really nice park, and it was the first time we'd been there. Wyatt was there to cheer for the River Hills Village team, too! He says he's not going to play baseball. I wonder if it's because he got hit in the head with a baseball bat about a month ago, and he's decided he wants nothing to do with that!
Today, Mom, Bobbie and I went to Monroe City for their sesquicentennial celebration and parade. It was a very nice parade, with perfect weather too. There were some really nice entries. Actually, they were all very good, but I'm just posting the two or three I liked the best. The folks on the Opera House float were singing and I thought they were good. They seemed to be enjoying themselves too. I also liked the Garner Funeral Parlor entry. I noticed the funeral parlor as we were walking to the parade route from where we parked. It looked like a really nice place, and we commented on it as we walked by, and then noticed that they had this horse drawn hearse in the parade. Very nice! Another float I really liked was "Saturday Night" Fidelis. I am guessing that it was the Fidelis family, and they've been around for 150 years. Whatever, I liked the float. And, of course, there were the Budweiser Clydesdales....and the dalmatian! Very impressive.
As usual, I failed to get the best picture of the day! We stopped on the way out of town to visit a few minutes with Heidi and Ambrose. I didn't even think about getting the camera out to take a picture of them! I'm so sorry I didn't because Heidi....if you are reading this....you are looking absolutely wonderful. Keep up the good work!
We then went to Quincy, did a bit of shopping and lunch and then back home. We (at least I did) enjoyed the day very much.

WOO HOOO! Your pictures turned out much better than mine!! LOL on thinking that the ladies were from the "Fidelis" family!!! That is not the case, but how would you know!!! hehe Am thought it was some sort of Fidelis club - I don't think he knows...I know I don't! My favorite was the Garner Funeral Home. They are such nice nice people...and yes, the home itself is nice. It's the only one we have. *even KAHOKA has 2 of them. LOL My Clydesdale pics didn't turn out - I hit the lighten up button and didn't realize it :( oh well.
I'll post mine maybe tomorrow - as we are probably going to go uptown again. THere's a birthday cake and ice cream social at 1:00!!!!! I assume "birthday" for the city! We're going back up shortly for the fireworks display! Was good to see you - I hope you enjoyed your short short stay. Next time come when you can come to my house!!!! {thank you for the compliment and thank you for NOT taking my picture....lol}

BTW, the funeral home entry ...... that was THE Garner Funeral Home "original" herse. Garners has been around for YEARS. The current owner's (the older one in your picture)father started it a long time ago. "Fox" or "Digger" is in his 60's probably. So that gives you an idea of the time frame.

Your mention of the opera house brought back memories...."Ain't Misbehavin". Who can forget what a hoot that road trip was!

Hey,
Looks like for the post you all had fun. Rob's grandparents were from Monroe City and he was from down the road a bit in Shelbina. I am glad you enjoyed.

Have a wonderful summer...I am not sure we have hit that yet as I am driving back and forth to ball games and drivers ed.

Hugs
